1 October 2024: The Czech version of the Initiative for a Critical Academy website is launched. The English version of the site will follow soon.

Iniciativa za kritickou akademii vznikla v létě 2024 jako volné sdružení akademiček a akademiků, zaměstnanců
a zaměstnankyň vysokých škol a dalších vzdělávacích
a výzkumných institucí v České republice, kterým záleží na hájení lidských práv a dalších univerzálních hodnot. Prvním krokem Iniciativy bylo zveřejnění Výzvy Iniciativy za kritickou akademii spjaté s izraelsko-palestinský konfliktem. Našim cílem je přispět k diskuzi o roli akademické sféry i v dalších celospolečenských otázkách.

Initiative for a critical academia was established in the summer of 2024 as a free association of academics, employees of universities and other educational and research institutions in the Czech Republic, who care about defending human rights and other universal values. The first step of the Initiative was the publication of the Initiative’s Statement for Critical Academia (note as of 1 October 2024: English version coming soon) related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Our goal is to contribute to the discussion about the role of academia in other societal issues as well.
